Helicopter Pilot Training

In collaboration with the Barcelona Flight School, Spain, VAA students are undertaking the Helicopter ATPL program. The program offers a step-by-step approach to obtaining an ATPL license. It consists of separate courses and licenses that can be taken according to personal schedules and needs. Each module or course awards an individual license or qualification, and they can be taken independently. The program permits a personalized pace for completing modules and gaining the necessary knowledge and experience for the ATPL license. Qualifications like PPL, CPL, and IR are achieved as each module is finished, culminating in the ATPL license upon completion of all modules.

Fixed Wing Pilot Training

VAA is partnering with ENAC, France to offer integrated ATPL programs designed to prepare aspiring pilots for the world of aviation. These programs focus on developing both technical and non-technical proficiencies essential for the safe operation of contemporary transport planes. Significant emphasis is placed on cultivating the professional conduct of prospective airline pilots, encompassing qualities like sound decision-making, precision, and effective teamwork within the crew.

Helicopter Underwater Escape Training

In partnership with ERGT, Australia, VAA facilitated Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) in Australia. HUET is a specialized safety training program designed to equip individuals, especially those who work in offshore industries or frequently travel over bodies of water in helicopters, with the skills and knowledge needed to safely evacuate a helicopter that has landed in water and submerged.

During HUET training, participants are exposed to simulated scenarios involving controlled helicopter capsizing and submersion. The training covers essential skills such as:

  • Egress Techniques: Trainees learn how to effectively exit a submerged helicopter cabin, often while wearing aviation safety gear, such as life vests and survival suits.
  • Survival Techniques: Participants are educated about how to manage themselves in water, including floating, controlling buoyancy, and managing stress.
  • Emergency Procedures: The training covers emergency protocols, such as locating and operating emergency exits, life rafts, and survival equipment.
  • Communication and Teamwork: HUET emphasizes teamwork and communication among passengers and crew members during the evacuation process.
  • Risk Awareness: Trainees learn about the potential hazards associated with underwater helicopter evacuations and how to mitigate those risks.
  • Hazardous Situations: The training addresses various scenarios, such as evacuations in different weather conditions, at night, and in challenging sea states.

Aviation English

In conjunction with the Vietnam People’s Navy, VAA has developed a basic Aviation English program to further develop specialized Aviation English competency. The program, conducted in Cam Ranh, is a highly customised and flexible course designed to meet their specific needs and requirements.
