Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA) is taking decisive steps to realize its long-term strategic goals, through a recent conference held in Phan Thiet from December 21-22, 2024 named “Development Strategy to 2035, Vision to 2050 with Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Big Data and Blockchain”.
In charting the Academy’s future trajectory, the board of directors has delivered key changes to enhance current educational offerings with technological alignment:
Rebranding to Vietnam Aerospace University (VAU)
A pivotal decision is the rebranding to VAU—Vietnam Aerospace University. The new designation reflects a broader academic scope, encompassing multidisciplinary fields with a focus on both aviation and aerospace sectors. The upgrade of brand values and sustainable development in the university’s areas will facilitate public recognition and aid prospective students in specialized programs. Currently, a proposal is being made for this change, ensuring compliance with legal regulations while preserving the heritage of its tradition.

Establishing a New Campus in Long Thanh
With a significant contribution to Vietnam’s aviation workforce, VAA will establish a new campus in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, located approximately 5 kilometers from the upcoming Long Thanh International Airport. The proposed 32-hectare campus will feature state-of-the-art facilities including modern classrooms, laboratories, and simulation centers. Over three phases in 15 years (2026-2040) and an estimated 25,000 billion VND budget, directly sourced from the Academy’s revenue-generating activities the new campus promises to accommodate 10,000 students and an international standard educational infrastructure. Key programs meeting global resource requirements as Flight Operations Management, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and Aviation Engineering will be introduced shortly after.

Transforming towards an AI Univerisity
VAA prospects to evolve into a smart university by integrating Artificial Intelligence into its operations, learning, teaching, and research activities. Formats of AI will also adopt digital learning materials, online learning platforms, virtual reality, internet of Things, and machine learning technologies. VAA will focus on building a core team of faculty heads to effectively harness these technologies, ensure that they will meet job requirements, and enhance overall efficiency.

These strategic initiatives were in complete agreement among the Academy’s board of leaders, faculties, and staff to visualize them as reality by actively developing clear actions upon its strengths, driving sustainable growth as a pioneer educator in Vietnam aviation industry. Onwards to success along with a spirit of solidarity, Vietnam Aviation Academy will make significant advancements in the coming years.
