In 2019 VAA and IIAC began their first steps in their strong cooperation when Incheon Airport delivered an Airport Management Course for the Vietnam Airports Authority.

The 5-Day training program looked closely at airport security and management. The highly interactive course used discussion-oriented learning based on actual case studies. Trainees were equipped with the operational know-how to deploy these management strategies at airports across Vietnam, including apron management and aviation lighting among others. In particular, the course focused on terrorism prevention and security systems deployed at Incheon Airport, which is regarded as a global leader in international aviation security.
Aerodrome Safety Management Course delivered by Incheon Airport 2023
The comprehensive five-day program covered:
- Structure and processes of an aerodrome Safety Management System (SMS)
- Developing safety policy, COURSE AIM and procedures for the establishment of an effective SMS
- Safety reporting and emergency response planning
- Aerodrome operational hazards and safety risks
- Aerodrome operational safety assessments, as per PANS-Aerodromes, for safety risk management, aeronautical and compatibility studies;
- Safety assurance activities for the monitoring and measurement of safety risk management and safety performance at an aerodrome.
The course is designed to meet the operational needs of Safety Managers and SMS practitioners from airport operators, officers of ground handling organizations, aircraft operators, air traffic services, civil aviation administration regulators, aerodrome airside operation relevant officers and security personnel.
VAA’s collaborative arrangements involve partnering with global organizations to elevate aviation education and training in Vietnam and the surrounding region. The growth of the aviation industry is of considerable economic significance for Vietnam and building human capability will play a vital role in ensuring sustainable growth. VAA’s international collaborations will further enhance the skills and knowledge of Vietnam’s aviation professionals and open up avenues for students to enter the domestic and regional job market.
